Explanation: The background flag shows unit nationality and the foreground insignia shows military organization. The national flag is greyed out as long as the unit is un-selected, and turns colored when the unit gets selected.

= Selected unit
= Selected unit - right clicked
= Unselected unit
= Unselected unit - right clicked

 The insignia disappears when you right click, just as it does in the original, to make the unit data easier to read.
