As dawn broke, the Soviet 129th Rifle Division found itself in positions outside the historic city of Smolensk after a rough night march. New to the front, a certain uneasiness permeated through the ranks, but the word from the Front HQ was that they'd remain in reserve and wouldn't see action for at least a few more days. 

The weary soldiers were oblivious to the storm of German armor that was rapidly bearing down on them; confident they were safe behind the Red Army's front line. Unfortunately, the master of this approaching storm was none other than the German panzer leader Heinz Guderian.

The defensive front on which they were counting upon for their security has already been shattered.

This beautiful summer day which had begun so peacefully was about to turn into a day of death and despair...

  • 1 km hexes, 2 hour turns, with a map measuring over 300 hexes by 200 hexes.
  • Over 1500 battalion sized units represent PanzerGruppes Guderian and Hoth, the supporting Infantry Divisions of Army Group Center, and the massive forces of the Soviet Western Front.

  • Over 20 maps (plus another 40+ sub maps), including Paris and a mammoth map covering the eastern half of the Brie Plateau.
